Stoische Notities

Mindfulness in Actie

The Bhagavad Gita (Vintage)
Translated and with a Preface by Eknath Easwaran (1910 – 1999).
122 Pages | A Vintage Spiritual Classic Original 2000; abridged version | Vintage Books, A Division of Random House, Inc., New York | ISBN: 9780375705557.
The Bhagavad Gita (Sanskrit for ‘Song of the Lord’) is the most famous poem in all of Hindu literature and part of the Mahabharata, the great Indian epic. The Gita consists of a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Prince Arjuna on the morning of a climactic battle. Krishna provides Prince Arjuna with the spiritual means to take action under trying circumstances . Of course, the larger canvas painted in the poetry is that of the moral universe of Hinduism. As the late noted teacher and scholar Eknath Easwaran writes in the Preface:
‘The Gita does not present a system of philosophy. It offers something to every seeker after God, of whatever temperament, by whatever path. The reason for this universal appeal is that it is basically practical: it is a handbook for Self-realization and a guide to action’.
From Chapter 4 – ‘Wisdom in Action’ (p. 25):
” The awakened sages call a person wise when all his undertakings are free from anxiety about results; all his selfish desires have been consumed in the fire of knowledge. The wise, ever satisfied, have abandoned all external supports. Their security is unaffected by the results of their action; even while acting, they really do nothing at all. Free from expectations and from all sense of possession, with mind and body firmly controlled by the Self, they do not incur sin by the performance of physical action. “
Somnio Scipionis – (Vision of Scipio)
By Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BC. – 43 BC).
19 Pages | Unknown publication date | Pocket Pamphlet No. 1 | The Wizards Bookshelf, San Diego U.S.A. | No ISBN.
This short fragment of Cicero generally known as the Vision of Scipio to those, who are seeking for the scattered pearls, which once adorned the sacred bosom of the pure virgin of the mysteries, before she was defiled and her robe and jewels trampled in the mire of the sty, is perhaps the most interesting record in the voluminous writings of the great Roman orator.
Whence Tully derived his information, whether from the writings of the outer schools of Pythagorean and Platonic philosophy, or from private sources, is in the present case immaterial.
From page 18:
” Since, therefore, it is evident that that only is eternal, which is self-motive. Who is there to deny that this is a rational attribute of Souls? For everything which is set in motion by external impulse is destitute of the Soul principle, whereas everything ensouled is energised by an interior and self-created motion; for this is the Soul’s proper nature and power. “
Studies in Abhidharma Literature and the Origins of Buddhist Philosophical Systems
By Erich Frauwallner (1898 – 1974), translated from the German by Sophie Francis Kidd and under the supervision of Ernst Steinkellner.
247 Pages | Published in 1995 | Softcover | State University of New York | ISBN: 0791427005.
This is a translation of Frauwallner’s Abhidarmastudien. It analyzes the literary traditions, doctrinal tendencies, and structural methods of the Buddhist Abhidharma Canon in order to expose the beginnings of systematic philosophical thought in Buddhism. Frauwallner’s insights illuminate the path of meditation toward liberation, the development of Buddhist psychology, and the evolution of the Buddhist view of causality and the problem of time. He provides a clear explanation of the gradual development of Buddhist thought from its early doctrinal beginning to some of the most complex and remarkable philosophical edifices in history.
From Chapter I – ‘The Earliest Abhidharma’ (p. 3):
” The question as to how the system of the Sarvāstivāda originated, the last authoritative summary of which is represented by Vasubandhu’s Abhidharmakośa and Saṃghabhadra’s Nyāyānusāra, can be answered – at least as far as the earliest period is concerned – with reference to a wealth of material in the canonical Abhidharma works of this school. Thus, it is with these works that research must begin, and the following essay is an attempt to characterize these works, assign them a place in the overall development, and demonstrate the contribution of each particular work to this development. ”
Bhagavad Gītā – De Dialoog Tussen Krishna En Arjuna Uit De Mahābhārata
Vertaald door Erik Mossel.
144 Pages | Uitgegeven in 1993 | Hardcover | Panta Rhei, Katwijk | ISBN: 9073207355.

175 Bladzijden | Negende druk 2018 | Softcover | Uitgeverij Kok, Kampen | ISBN: 9789043526579.
Oorspronkelijke titel: The Screwtape Letters, copyright 2002, Uitgeverij Kok, Kampen.
Inwijding – Priesteres in Egypte
Door Elisabeth Haich (1897 – 1994), vertaling dra. C. Keus.
393 Pages | Oorspronkelijke uitgave 1960, Nederlandse vertaling 1978, vijftiende druk | Softcover | Uitgeverij Ankh-Hermes, onderdeel van VBK, Utrecht | ISBN: 9789020215908.
Oorspronkelijke titel: Einweihung | Uitgegeven in 1960, meest recente editie 2020 | Eduard Fankhauser Verlag, Thielle | ISBN: 9783968610092.
Venus is geen Vamp – Het Vrouwbeeld in 35.000 Jaar Venuskunst
Door Annine van der Meer.
456 Pages | Uitgegeven in 2009 | Softcover | Academie PanSophia i.s.m. A3 Boeken, Geesteren | ISBN: 9789077408674.
Insights From The Masters – A Compilation
By Fiona C. Odgren.
250 Pages | First published in 2016 | Softcover | Axis Mundi Books, Winchester UK & Washington U.S.A. | ISBN: 9781785353383.
Insights From The Masters is a compilation of The Mahatma Letters, a remarkable correspondence, that took place between two Masters, Koot Humi and Morya, and two influential British men. The Letters are currently held in the British Library, London UK. With this compilation the author has taken what she considers to be the most interesting themes regarding esoteric knowledge presented by the Masters and made their teachings more accessible to the public. The Letters contain answers on subjects relating to Birth and Death, truth on Afterlife and Reincarnation, Occult Science and Phenomena, Karma and Dharma etc. and all while portraying the unconditional love and humour of these advanced Souls.
From the Foreword (p. 3):
” Morya was Blavatsky’s personal spiritual Teacher, whom she had met numerous times in her life. He had saved her life on more than one occasion and she recalled having visions of him as a child. She came to actually meet him for the first time in London, in 1851, when he was part of an entourage invited to have an audience with Queen Victoria. He was a Rajput prince by birth and was described once by Blavatsky as being ‘one of the old warrior race of the Indian desert’. He was exceptionally tall (six feet, eight inches) and splendidly built – a superb type of manly beauty. K.H. sometimes referred to him as ‘my bulky brother’. Morya also usually signed his name with his initial. He was not highly proficient in the English language and spoke of himself as ‘using words and phrases lying idly in my friend’s brain’, meaning of course the brain of Koot Humi. “
Waarheid is een Land zonder Wegen
Door Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986), vertaald door May Verheyen.
175 Pagina’s | Copyright 1954, Nederlandse vertaling 2014 | Softcover | BBNC Uitgevers, Amersfoort | ISBN: 9789045316895.
Engels origineel: On Truth | Published in 1954 | Krishnamurti Foundation of America | ISBN: 978-0062510129.
De Adelaar in Zijn Vlucht
Door Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986), vertaald door Henri W. Methorst en A.J.G. Methorst-Kuiper.
221 Pagina’s | Eerste druk 1974, tweede druk 2015 | Synthese, een imprint van Milinda Uitgevers B.V. | ISBN: 9788187326366.
Engels origineel: The Flight of the Eagle | Published in 1972, 2005 edition | Krishnamurti Foundation, London, England | ISBN: 9781596750012.
The Serpent Power
By Arthur Avalon, also known as Sir John George Woodroffe (1865–1936):
500 Pages | First published by Luzac & Co in 1918, this fascimile edition has been carefully scanned and reprinted in the traditional manner | Softcover | The Lost Library, Glastonbury | ISBN: 9781906621230.
The Serpent Power comprises translations and commentary on two ancient Sanskrit texts:
- De ṣaṭ-cakra nirūpaṇa (Description of and Investigation into the Six Bodily Centres).
- De pādukā-pañcaka (Fivefold Footstool of the Guru).
In addition to practical yoga instruction, Avalon gives a detailed explanation of the chakra system and writes with such clarity and elegance on the often misunderstood topics of meditation and mantra.
From Chapter 1: ‘The Six Centres and the Serpent Power’ (p. 2):
” This (kuṇḍalinī) Yoga is effected by a process technically known as ṣaṭ-cakra-bheda, or piercing of the Six Centres (cakra) or Lotuses (padma) of the body (which the work describes) by the agency of kuṇḍalinī-śakti, which, in order to give it an English name, I have here called the Serpent Power. Kuṇḍala means coiled. The Power is the Goddess (devī) Kuṇḍalinī, or that which is coiled; for Her form is that of a coiled and sleeping serpent in the lowest bodily centre, at the base of the spinal column, until by the means described She is aroused in that Yoga, which is named after Her. Kuṇḍalinī is the Divine Cosmic Energy in bodies. “
The Ancient Wisdom – An Outline of Theosophical Teachings
By Annie Besant (1847 – 1933).
338 Pages | First published by The Theosophical Society in 1897, this fascimile edition has been carefully scanned and reprinted in the traditional manner | Softcover | The Lost Library, Glastonbury | ISBN: 9781906621346.
Annie Besant’s classic introduction to Theosophy.
In the present Volume, an attempt will be made to place Theosophy before the reader simply and clearly, in a way which shall convey its general principles and truths as forming a coherent conception of the universe, and shall give such detail as it is necessary for the understanding of their relations to each other.
From the Introduction:
” Right thought is necessary to right conduct, right understanding to right living and the Divine Wisdom – whether called by its Sanskrit name of Brahmā Vidyā, or its modern Greek name of Theosophia, Theosophy – comes to ther world as at once an adequate philosophy and an all embracing religion and ethic. “ – Annie Besant.
The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries
By Walter Yeeling Evans-Wentz (1878 – 1965).
524 Pages | First published by Henry Frowde in 1911, this fascimile edition has been carefully scanned and reprinted in the traditional manner | Softcover | The Lost Library, Glastonbury | ISBN: 9781906621100.
The most scholarly work on fairies ever published.
This rare book contain priceless ethnographic fieldwork and provides an invaluable snapshot of the fairy belief system taken at the cusp of modernity. There are regional surveys of fairy faith in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany and the Isle of Man.
Examining each of the hypothetical explanations of the fairy phenomena in turn, including theories of fairies as reclusive dwarfs, disembodied spirits or figments of human imagination, the author concludes that they may indeed be a manifestation of inhabitants of a higher reality that only some people are able to view, let alone understand.
From Section I – The Living Fairy-Faith (B):
“ In the Beauty of the World lies the ultimate redemption of our mortality. When we shall become at one with Nature in a sense profounder even than the poetic imaginings of most of us, we shall understand what we now fail to discern. ” – Fiona MacLeod.
The Bhagavad Gita – The Song Celestial with Introduction and Notes
By Sir Edwin Lester Arnold (1832 – 1904), introduction by Alan Jacobs.
188 Pages | First published in 1885 as The Celestial Song, this is the 2006 edition | Hardcover | Watkins Publishing, London | ISBN: 9781842931240.
” There lives a Master in the hearts of Men, maketh their deeds, by subtle pulling-strings, dance to what tune He will. With all thy Soul Trust Him, and take Him for thy succour, Prince! “
The Bhagavad Gita, or Song Celestial, is the sacred testament central to Hinduism, the most ancient of the great world religions. Brahman is the Absolute Supreme Reality underlying all forms. Human beings accumulate Karma as a result of their actions in innumerable incarnations, until they obtain liberation through the practices of devotion and knowledge. The Bhagavad Gita, as the essential gospel of Hinduism, explains mankind’s predicament and points the way to freedom.
This poetic gospel is attributed to the Divine Messenger, Lord Krishna, who on the battlefield gives the warrior-prince, Arjuna, detailed and profound spiritual guidance. Arjuna is perplexed by his involvement in a war and Lord Krishna unveils inspiring philosophical wisdom leading to the solution of Arjuna’s problem and his self-realization.

From page 308:
” In Figure 11 (on page 309), we have the astral portrait of that gifted student of mysticism, Helena P. Blavatsky, who founded the present Theosophical Society on this planet in the nineteenth century. The student will note the 13th degree of Cancer ascending symbolized as follows: – A caduceus between two moons – one crescent, the other gibbous. It denotes a person of extreme capacity in the pursuit of knowledge, a penetrating mind and retentive memory. The native will accomplish wonders in the pursuit of subtle sciences. The temper is changeful like the moon and subject to fits of hope and despondency of more or less rapid alternation. The native is likely to travel much and be subject to many changes, but the chief characteristics are versatility and aptitude in the gaining of knowledge. With the symbol of Hermes dominant in the nature, the native will be either a linguïst, doctor, or distinguished scholar. Hermes or Mercury was strong, being in Virgo. This degree succinctly and clearly defines her life and her excellent though not faultless work. A most noticeable satellitum is the Sun, Mars, Saturn and Mercury, all in the third house, that is mind. “

” – Hermes Trismegistus.
CWL Speaks – C.W. Leadbeater’s Correspondence concerning the 1906 Crisis in the Theosophical Society
By Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854 – 1934), compiled by Pedro Oliveira with a Foreword by Robert Ellwood.
316 Pages | Second printing 2018 | Paperback | Olive Tree Publishing ISBN: 9780646973050.
Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854 – 1934) joined the Theosophical Society in 1883 in London and travelled with H.P. Blavatsky (1831 – 1891) to India in 1884. He helped Col. Henry S. Olcott () in his work for Buddhist education in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. While at the Headquarters of the Theosophical Society at Adyar, Madras, in India, he was taught some meditation exercises by one of Madame Blavatsky’s spiritual Teachers, who had accepted him as a Chela (disciple), in 1884. The exercises helped him to develop the faculty of clairvoyance.
From 1900 to 1905 he was a popular international lecturer for the TS, concentrating his visits to the United States. Some American families wanted their sons to accompany him in his travels to be trained in Theosophical work by him. In 1906, he was charged by the leadership of the American Section of the TS with giving sexual education to some boys under his care. Something still taboo in those days, but nowadays considered to be part of a normal curriculum. Following an enquiry in London, presided over by Col. Olcott, he resigned his membership of the Society.
For many, the episodes of 1906 sealed his image as an immoral man, although he was never charged or prosecuted in any country. He never defended himself of the accusations. After 110 years, all his relevant correspondence regarding that crisis is gathered together in this book. For the first time, his full thoughts and views about those events are presented to the public. Here, CWL speaks.
From page 274:
” One evening, Mr. Leadbeater, on our return to his room after our swim, told me that one of the boys had a remarkable aura. I asked which one, and he said it was the boy named Krishnamurti. I was surprised, for I already knew the boys, as they had been coming to me and to Subramanyam in the evenings to help in connection with their school home work, and it was evident that Krishnamurti was not one of the bright students. Then Mr. Leadbeater told me that Krishnamurti would become a great spiritual leader and a great speaker. I asked, ‘How great?’ As great as Mrs. Besant’? He replied, ‘Much greater’. And shortly after that he said that Krishnamurti would be the vehicle for the Lord Maitreya, the coming Teacher, who inspired Jesus. He was directed to help in training the boy for that purpose, which would be fulfilled, he told me, ‘unless something goes wrong’. This, I want to emphasize, in justice to Mr. Leadbeater. ” (Ernest Wood)
Secret Doctrine References Reprinted: A 1977 List
By an anonymous author.
22 Pages | Published in 1977 | Softcover | Wizards Bookshelf, San Diego | No ISBN.
Two-hundred titles out of the 750 hard cover books cited in Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s (1831 – 1891) The Secret Doctrine (1888) are reprinted or reset and made available (again) in 1977. The reason for the book list in this little publication should be obvious. It is not quite an easy way to read The Secret Doctrine! Few have a fit background in the basic fundamentals of languages like Greek, French, Hebrew, and Sanskrit plus some German and Russian. This altogether, plus a basic view of ancient religions, that only can come from reading those works connected with each. This grand view seems fundamental to discern the various terms, pantheons, deities and the rest.
Despite the effort necessary to unveil the teachings of The Secret Doctrine, it represents an unique journey for every reader. This little publication mentions the works, that are cited in the work. Although the list of references is not complete, may it be of support. And may it allow any reader of The Secret Doctrine to go deeper . . .
Evolution of the Higher Consciousness – An In-depth Study into H.P. Blavatsky’s Teachings
HARDCOVER
201 Pages | First edition 2018 | Hardcover (cloth) | Fohat Production, Ojai, California | ISBN: 9780997553512.
Who are we? What is the purpose of life? How do we actualize our potential? These are the questions that thoughful people have asked since time immemorial. Evolution of Higher Consciousness is a comprehensive study of the teachings of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831- 1891) on these issues.
Madame Blavatsky, co-founder of the Theosophical Society, was the pioneer of the esoteric renaissance that took place at the end of the nineteenth century. Ever since, her writings have served as foundational source for modern spirituality. In his book, Pablo Sender presents Blavatsky’s profound but frequently puzzling statements systematically and in clear, concise language. He throws light on the nature of our spiritual essence, its evolutionairy unfoldment, and the work that we can do in daily life to consciously participate in this cosmic journey.
From page 178:
“Within yourself is the light . . . The light of the higher self and of the Mahatma are not different from each other.
In the presence of the Master the lower nature is spontaneously transformed. This is why in the taijasic state there is no need to fight, control or manipulate the lower. Passions and afflictions are powerful only when the pure awareness identifies with them. This practice, along with the a general ‘effort’ at leading a spiritual life, will eventually make the temporary state of ‘manas taijasa” more and more available, until it becomes permanent in the union of buddhi-manas. When we are aware of our innate divine Wisdom, conscious of our identity with everything , and aware of our transcendental and immutable nature, the human evolutionairy pilgrimage comes to an end. New field of self-expression open up to the liberated consciousness, which now becomes a beneficent force aiding human and planetary evolution.
. . .
Joy unto ye, O Men of Earth.
A Pilgrim hath returned back ‘from the other shore’.
A Saviour of Mankind is born. “

Bhagavad Gītā – A New Translation
By Stephen Mitchell.
223 Pages | Originally published by Harmony Books a divison of Random House Inc. in 2000, first paperback edition | Softcover | Three Rivers Press – The Crown Publishing Group, New York | ISBN: 0609810340.
Stephen Mitchell is widely known for his ability to make ancient Masterpieces thrillingly new, to step in where many have tried before and create versions that are definitive for our time. His celebrated translations of the Tao Te Ching, Rilke, and The B0ok of Job have won the hearts of readers and critics alike. The Bhagavad Gītā is universally acknowledged as one of the world’s literary and spiritual masterpieces. It is the core text of the Hindu tradition and has been treasured by American writers from Emerson to T.S. Eliot.
There have been more than two hundred English translations of the Gītā, but none of them, until now, is a superlative literary text in its own right. This translation sings with the clarity, the vigor, and the intensity of the original Sanskrit.
From Chapter 4 – ‘The Yoga of Wisdom’, (p. 72 & 73) [4.3 – 6 / 4.7 – 11]:
The Blessed Lord said:
” Many times I have been born, and many times you (Arjuna) have also. All these lives I remember; you recall only this one. Although I am unborn, deathless, the infinite Lord of all beings, through my own wondrous power I come into finite form. Whenever righteousness falters and chaos threatens to prevail, I take on a human body and manifest myself on earth. In order to protect the good, to destroy the doers of evil, to ensure the triumph of righteousness, in every age I am born. Whoever knows, profoundly, my divine presence on earth is not reborn when he leaves the body, but comes to me. Released from greed, fear, anger, absorbed in me and made pure by the practice of wisdom, many have attained my own state of being. However men try to reach me, I return their love with my love; whatever path they may travel, it leads to me in the end. “
Bhagavad Gītā – The Song Divine
By Carl E. Woodham.
98 Pages | First printing 2000 | Hardcover | Torchlight Publishing, Badger | ISBN: 1887089268.
Based on the Bhagavad Gītā As It Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977).
The Bhagavad Gītā, India’s greatest spiritual treatise, contains far too much drama to remain the exclusive property of philosophers and religionists. Woodham presents the timeless wisdom of the Gita in contemporary English poetry, bringing to life its ancient yet perennially applicable message. It recounts in metered stanzas the historic conversation between Krishna, the Supreme Mystic and the mighty warrior Arjuna as they survey the battlefield preparations for the greatest world war of all time.
Krishna’s illuminating conversation with Arjuna forms the core of the Mahābhārata’s teachings, that has proven so inspiring to millions. Yet, it’s easy to overlook Krishna in the thicket of Bhagavad Gītā translations. Most dismiss Krishna as a myth or a mouthpiece for some greater formless Being. To do so is to miss the central point of the Bhagavad Gītā: bhakti, or joyous loving devotion to Krishna. The greatest luminaries of India’s rich spiritual heritage, such as Ramanuja, Madhva and Caitanya, have all drawn this devotional conclusion from Bhagavad Gītā .

Integrating and Managing the Personal Shadow – Intelligent Handling of Our Dark Energy
By I. Jauli and E. Reig.
116 Pages | Uitgegeven in 2016 | Softcover | Vijay Nicole Imprints Private Limited, Chennai | ISBN: 9788182094475.
For many of the ancient traditions and some psychological approaches the great obstructer of the inner development is fear. It generates insecurity; it pressures the searcher to decline his intentions and finally, in order to sleep peacefully, he assumes that retracting and not acting was smart, however he loses the opportunity to experience life.
” If we understand that fears are just thoughts, we can free ourselves from them. ” – Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986)
These thoughts are part of the personal shadow. They destroy the possibilities of living and reduce our potential. This book explains the personal shadow and its effects on life. The bird’s meaning of life is flying, that’s why it has wings, the snake is to slither and therefore it has a body equipped for this movement. Likewise, human beings possess divine potential and therefore they need to develop that potential. Shadows affect the inner development.
This book discusses:
- Effect on inner development
- Effects of management of light and shadow in the human being such as wisdom, ignorance, darkness and shadow
- Explanation of shadow effects through fables
- Approach of shadow in psychology
- Methods to know our personal shadow and how to measure the effect of personal shadow in our lives?
- An alchemy model to face the shadow
- Transforming powers of change
This book also presents ideas and schemas, that combine science, philosophy and the ancient mystical traditions. It aims to help readers integrate their personal shadow and thus lead a fulfilling and productive life.

Studies in the Middle Way – Being Thoughts on Buddhism Applied
By Christmas Humphreys (1901 – 1983).
169 Pages | Softcover | Published in 1984 | Curzon Press and the Theosophical Publishing House U.S.A. | ISBN: 0835603067.
This work sets out to emphasize the inner life as a constant moving on and the mover as a pilgrim travelling along an ancient Way. This Way to ultimate Reality was called by Gautama the Buddha the ‘Middle Way’, the Path between the introverted life of contemplation and the extrovert life of action in the world of men. Whilst this book as a whole is of no one school of Buddhism, it aims toward an understanding and also an application of Buddhist principles in Western society, and a means whereby that Way may be traversed.
The Bhagavad Gītā – A Guide to Navigating The Battle of Life
By Ravi Ravindra.
302 Pages | First edition 2017 | Paperback | Shambhala Publications, Inc, Boulder, U.S.A. | ISBN:
‘ All there is, is KRISHNA. ‘
Upon hearing this famous and enigmatic line from the Gita’s seventh chapter when he was a boy, Ravi Ravindra embarked on a journey to understand its deep meaning. The search led him far beyond the tradition from which the text originally arose to an exploration of World Mystical Wisdom, including Zen, Christianity, Yoga, and particularly the teachings of J. Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986) and G.I. Gurdjieff (1866 – 1949).
Dr. Ravindra’s fresh prose translation with wide-ranging commentary is the fruit of that life-long process. It stands out from the many other versions with its assertion, that the Bhagavad Gita is at heart a universal Guide to navigating the battle of life required of each and every one of us. It is through that navigation, he shows, that we can discover and connect with the KRISHNA deep within ourselves: the Eternal Witness, who is above the battle, and who is, ultimately and joyfully, All there is . . .
The Language of MA – The Primal Mother: The Evolution of the Female Image in 40,000 Years of Global Venus Art
587 Pages | Published in 2013 | Softcover | Uitgeverij A3 Boeken | ISBN: 9789082031300.
This is the first pioneering study of global ‘Venuses’, who are part of an ancient and contemporary art traditionally called ‘Venus Art’ – the Art of Primal Mother(s), the Art of the female ancestors. Venus Art reflects the consciousness of egalitarian societies of peace, in which women and feminine values play or have played a central role, in which MA or the MATER or MOTHER and the primal mothers of the clan are central.
To date Venus Art has been understood, neglected and not integrally researched. The Art has become eroticised and sexualised. The purpose of this book is to rehabilitate Venus Art with Venus seen and honored as manifestation of the divine Mother MA.
From Chapter 2 – ‘The Book in a Nutshell’ (p. 15):
” Part 1 consists of eight chapters, part 2 the same. This is no coincidence. Three and four make seven. Seven plus one makes eight. In eight begins a new octave, a new time, a new mankind. In the lemniscate of the eight. the independent feminine and masculine come together in perfect balance. By bringing the forgotten feminine into the picture, balance and connection is created with the masculine. Unity. “
Remember MA • Welcome a new art historical approach that defi nitively maps the contribution of woman to evolution and brings to an end a male world history without women. • Remember the primal mothers, who much later were called ‘Venuses’ and sometimes pin-ups. This book rehabilitates them as the first leaders of humanity. • Learn about a global feminine system of symbols that shows an astonishing consistency and coherency. • Witness how prehistoric cultures produced much more feminine art than masculine art. • Understand why the feminine was pictured so often in old and modern female-friendly societies of peace and balance. • Learn to discern an ancient primal mother from a later goddess, priestess and worshipper. • See how a male system of symbols is laid over the older feminine system of symbols; now the female image is devalued and the world is changed in a valley of tears. • Meet the lost Lady of Old Israel in images and texts and see how she is transculturally transformed into Mary, the Lady of all Nations in Christianity. Dr Annine E.G. van der Meer (1953) is a Dutch historian of religion and holds a PhD in theology from the University of Utrecht. She is the author of several books. She has travelled widely to retrace the universal hidden Mother in sacred texts, art and symbols. She is founder and president of the Dutch PanSophia Academy, school of Wisdom, where she also teaches. In July 2010 33 women of international standing in their particular fields were honoured in the ‘Manifest Female Energy’. Annine van der Meer was one of six Dutch women to be decorated. According to the manifest, they have contributed to transformation processes in the world; a new world, in which feminine and masculine energies mutually inspire each other and are growing towards a new, powerful and creative world order.

The Secret Doctrine – Abridged and Annotated by Michael Gomes
By Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831 – 1891), abridged and annotated by Michael Gomes.
257 Pages | Published in 2009 | Softcover | Tarcher/ Penguin Books | ISBN: 9781585427086.
The Secret Doctrine, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s masterwork on the origin and evolution of the universe and humanity itself, is arguably the most famous, and perhaps the most influential, occult book ever written. Published since 1888 only in expensive, two-volume editions of some 1400 pages, it has long eluded the grasp of modern readers- until now.
This single-volume edition, abridged and annotated by historian and Theosophical scholar Michael Gomes, places the ideas of The Secret Doctrine within reach of all who are curious. In particular, Gomes provides a critical sounding of the book’s famous stanzas on the genesis of life and the cosmos – mysterious passages that Blavatsky said originated from a primeval source and which form the heart of The Secret Doctrine. Gomes scrupulously scales down the book’s key writings on symbolism to their essentials, and offers notes and a glossary to illuminate arcane references. His historical and literary introduction casts new light on some of the book’s sources and on the career of its brilliant and elusive author, one of the most intriguing personages of the nineteenth century. At once compact and representative of the work as a whole, this new edition of The Secret Doctrine brings unprecedented accessibility to the key esoteric classic of the modern era.
Krishnamurti over Krishnamurti – ‘Krishnamurti’s Notebook’
Door Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986).
288 Pagina’s | Eerste druk 2004 | Synthese, een imprint van Milinda Uitgevers B.V. | ISBN: 9789062719792.
‘ Krishnamurti’s Notebook is a spiritual treasure. The words inside offer the intimate spirit of a truly remarkable presence, poetic, gracious, vast as the sky and wonderfully wise.’ – Jack Kornfield (auteur).
‘ This Notebook, with its matter-of-fact descriptions of Krishnamurti’s almost daily experiences of mystical states, was a privilege to read. In the past, I have found Krishnamurti’s ideas hard to grasp, no doubt because I was trying to grasp them. But this Notebook seems sometimes to paralyze my thought and allow Krishnamurti to work on me on a deeper level. ‘ – John Cleese (auteur).
66 Pagina’s | Eerste druk 1981, 5de druk 2014 | Softcover | Synthese Uitgevers, Rotterdam | ISBN: 9789062710768.
Afkomstig uit Toespraak I (p. 17):

479 Pages | Eerste druk juni 2004 | Hardcover | Uitgeverij Lillalith, Amsterdam | ISBN: 9789080715516.
Spirituele Astrologie Boek 2.
De Noordelijke Maansknoop – De Boodschap van Gene Zijde
Door Bastiaan van Wingerden.
516 Pages | Eerste druk juni 2002, tweede druk oktober 2003 | Hardcover | Uitgeverij Lillalith, Amsterdam | ISBN: 9789080715523.
Spirituele Astrologie Boek 1.
Afkomstig uit Deel I – ‘Het Spirituele Duidingsysteem: B. De Spirituele Punten’ (p. 21):
Child Exodus from Tibet
By Birgit van de Wijer.
144 Pages | April 2006 | Softcover | Birgit van de Wijer, uitgever | ISBN 9078464011.
Tibetan parents send their children to school abroad in massive numbers . . . thousands never arrive: they die from freezing, starvation, exhaustion, hypothermia; they are caught by the Chinese or Nepalese police and sent back over the border. How desperate must a parent be to entrust their child to strangers to undertake a thousand kilometre journey in a strange convoy over the snowbound Himalayas? Since the Chinese occupation of independent Tibet in 1950, the country has slowly been choking in a stranglehold. In the early Eighties, dying Tibet began to send its children to India.
In this book Birgit van de Wijer for the first time illuminates this horror from all angles: why children flee, how many flee, their escape routes, the risks they run, their reception in Nepal and India, and the psychological consequences. Above all, the children tell their stories themselves. The book is based on interviews, that the author conducted on the spot at great risk. The book grew from the conviction of an author, who hopes that this exodus can finally be stopped.
Jacob Boehme – Western Esoteric Masters Series
By Jacob Boehme (1575 – 1624), edited by Robin Waterfield.
239 Pages | Copyright 2001 | Softcover | North Atlantic Books, Berkeley, California | ISBN: 1556433573.
Hihgly regarded among Christian mystics, Jacob Boehme was famous for his inspired and provocative analysis of the nature and being of God. Grounded in Paracelsus, the Kabbala, astrology, alchemy and the Hermetic tradition, Boehme articulated a revelatory theology, which emphasized the process, whereby God comes to know Himself.
Boehme reasoned that from His illimitable oneness, God was unable to truly apprehend Himself as God in all His splendor. Thus, God had to become an incarnated, limited being, for only through experience could He satisfy His need for self-understanding. Driven by a series of spiritual epiphanies, Boehme boldly proclaimed his new revelations, rejecting the narrow dogmatism and bibliolatry of mainstream sentiment. His subsequent prosecution by church authorities led to banishment from his home town of Goerlitz, and continued harassment by more orthodox thinkers. After his death in 1624, his writings continued to provoke debate among mystics and scholars investigating the nature of good and evil, creation and God’s will.
This anthology serves an an introduction to Boehme’s thought and will bring readers deeper into his philosophy. Part One gives biography and context of Boehme’s writings and their influence on later scientists, alchemical researchers and poets. Part Two contains selections from Boehme’s works grappling with his main themes including the birth of God and the vindication of His goodness. Of particular interest are a number of letters from Boehme, which have never appeared previously in English.
Paranormaal zijn we Allemaal – Ontdek je Zesde Zintuig
Door Christian Vandekerkhove.
231 Bladzijden | Uitgegeven in 2008 | Softcover | The House of Books | ISBN: 9789044322613.

Dedicated in humility
- To those who have watched the terrestrial transformations and eruptions, have asked for Why, and have received None.
- To those who, tired and home-weary, in a long and slow Journey , have yearned and sought for Justice and found her not.
- Tho those, who have suffered, as humans suffer waiting in Faith for liberation.
- To those hearts, who in Faith and Patience have mystic-wise found a golden thread so delicate, so strong, delicate as human frailty, yet strong to draw the tossed and home-weary from out the ocean’s tempest to the Harbor of Light, from out of the dark ocean’s tempest to the Light, divine in its cheer.
- To men and woman, Regenerate, to the Illumined Ones.
This Dynamic Universe
Edited by Corona Trew and E. Lester Smith.
167 Pages | Copyright 1983 | Softcover | Quest Books, U.S.A. | ISBN: 083560232X.
Offered in this book is a valuable link between the occult concepts that appear in the Magnum Opus of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s (1831 – 1891) The Secret Doctrine (1888) and the latest theories of science. This Dynamic Universe is quite unique as a resource for the serious student of creation and evolution, clarifying as it does, some of the more difficult principles dealing with man and the cosmos.
From Chapter 5 – ‘References to Fohat in The Secret Doctrine‘ (p. 30):
” The Manifested Universe (therefore) is pervaded by duality; which is, as it were, the very essence of its Ex-istence as ‘Manifestation’. But just as the opposite poles of Subject and Object, Spirit and Matter, are but aspects of the One Unity, in which they are synthesized, so, in the Manifested Universe, there is ’that’, which links Spirit to Matter, Subject to Object.
This something at present unknown to Western speculation, is called by the Occultists Fohat. It is the ‘bridge’ by which the Ideas existing in the Divine Thought are impressed on Cosmic Substance as the ‘Laws of Nature’. Fohat is thus the dynamic energy of Cosmic ideation; or regarded from the other side, it is the intelligent medium, the guiding power of all manifestation, the ‘Thought Divine’ transmitted and made manifest through the Dhyan Chohans, the Architects of the visible World. “
Mechanistic and Nonmechanistic Science -An Investigation into the Nature of Consciousness and Form
254 Pages | Copyright 1981, first edition, second printing | Softcover | The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, U.S.A. | ISBN: 0892131489.
From the Introduction:
The first 8 Chapters of this book are devoted to a critique of modern scientific theories and the parallel introduction of the basic elements of the theoretical system of bhakti-yoga. In the 9th Chapter, Thompson shows how these elements provide the theoretical framework for a practical process of obtaining absolute personal knowledge. The analysis of current mechanistic theories is intended to reveal some of their deficiencies, and to show the need for some kind of nonmechanistic alternative. This analysis does not prove that the systemof bhakti-yoga is the only possible alternative, but it does show that this system is a reasonable candidate. The validity of bhakti-yoga can be demonstrated conclusively only by means of the practical observational process of bhakti-yoga itself, and this is discussed in the 9th Chapter.
” In Mechanistic and Nonmechanistic Science Dr. Thompson makes a number of cogent arguments against the usual scientific picture of life and evolution (which do not accept the existence of higher or subtler levels of organization). He also presents a clear alternative model. I think it is an important book, which would be of interest to many people. “

Alien Identities – Ancient Insights into Modern UFO Phenomena
447 Pages | Copyright & first edition 1993, 2nd printing 1994, revised 2nd edition 1995 | Softcover | Govardhan Hill Publishing, Alachua, Florida | ISBN: 0963530941.
Who are They? Where do They come from? What can we expect from Them?
Since 1947 researchers have exhaustively documented the reality of Ufo’s. But questions still remain about the origins of these strange craft and the intentions of the beings, who pilot them. In Alien Identities, Thompson shows, that the answers may lie in the records of an ancient civilization with thousands of years of contacts with extra-terrestial races. Startling parallels between modern UFO accounts and the ancient Sanskrit writings of India give fresh insights into the identity and purpose of UFO visitors.
From Chapter 6 – ‘Transhuman Contact in Vedic Civilization’ (p. 210);
” In the ancient Vedic civilization, contact with various nonhuman races was on a solid footing. Celestial ṛṣis and Devas would regularly visit the courts of great earthly kings. There were established diplomatic relationships and satisfying mutual understandings between leading members of human society and representatives of other societies in the cosmic hierarchy. This is illustrated by the description in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa of the Rājasūya sacrifice performed by King Yudhiṣṭhira, which took place according to traditional dating about 5.000 years ago in the city of Indraprastha, near present-day Delhi. “
223 Pagina’s | Paperback |Rozenkruis Pers, Haarlem |ISBN: 9067322776
Ecofilosofie
Door Henryk Skolimowski (1930 – 2018).
140 Pagina’s | Uitgegeven in 1985 | Softcover | Uitgeverij Markant, Nijmegen | ISBN: 9067720011.
Engels origineel: Eco-philosophy | Uitgegeven in 1981 | Boyars Boston / London.
Politiek bewust, 9. Sociaal geëngageerd, 10. Met nadruk op individuele verantwoordelijkheid, 11. Tolerant ten opzichte van transfysische verschijnselen, 12. Gezondheidsbewust. “
The Human and the Divine – Nine-fold Relationship to Śrī Piļļai Lokācārya and Madame Blavatsky
172 Pages | First limited edition 1995 | Softcover | Prapti Books, Madras, India | No ISBN.
The lives of Śrī Piļļai Lokācārya and Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831 – 1891) were irradiated by the Great Ones who are ever seeking for interpreters of Occult Knowledge in the outer world . . . Their contribution and catholicity of thought remain a source of perennial inspiration to the true aspirants of Divine Wisdom.
From Section C – ‘Present and Future of the Thoughts: (p. 136):
” The teachings of any philosopher necessary are expressions of the Eternal Wisdom. Each one has dealt with the reality of the world, the organic relation of all life to the Divine Principle, the workings within the Cosmos, which are all matters of great appeal to a rational human. Stressing the solidarity of man, aiding him and his mind to the cosmic Mind, and leading each to the inevitable state of embracing the whole of the Universe has been the effort of both PL and HPB in their own chosen way. ”
